Description

Golden grilled sandwiches layered with deli ham, creamy melted brie, tart Granny Smith apple slices, and a sweet honey-Dijon spread. Ready in 18 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

8 slices sourdough or ciabatta bread

8 oz (about 8 slices) deli ham

6 oz brie cheese, sliced (rind removed or left on)

1 medium Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

1. Stir Dijon mustard and honey together in a small bowl until combined.

2. Cut the apple into thin slices (about ⅛ inch). Slice brie to a similar thickness.

3. Lay out 8 bread slices. Spread honey-Dijon on one side of each. Layer ham, brie, and apple on 4 slices. Top with remaining slices, spread side down.

4. Spread softened butter on both outer sides of each sandwich.

5. Place in a skillet or panini press over medium heat. Cook 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden brown and brie is melted.

6. Transfer to a cutting board and rest 1–2 minutes before cutting in half.

Notes

Bring brie to room temperature before slicing for better melting.

Pat apple slices dry to prevent soggy bread.

If bread browns before cheese melts, cover skillet with a lid for the last minute.

Storage: Airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Freezing: Not recommended — apple and brie textures degrade after thawing.

Reheating: Dry skillet over medium-low, 2–3 minutes per side. Or toaster oven at 350°F for 4–5 minutes. Avoid microwave.
