Description

These Cod Fish Tacos feature lightly spiced, pan-seared cod tucked into warm tortillas with crunchy slaw and a creamy lime sauce. Ready in just 25 minutes, this beginner-friendly recipe is perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

1 to 1.5 lbs cod fillets

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

2 cups shredded cabbage

1 medium carrot, shredded

3 tbsp lime juice, divided

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 small garlic clove, minced

8 small corn or flour tortillas

Fresh cilantro, chopped

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

1. Toss cabbage and carrot with 2 tablespoons lime juice and a pinch of salt; refrigerate.

2. Whisk Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, remaining lime juice, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt; refrigerate.

3. Pat cod dry and season both sides with cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear cod 3–4 minutes per side until opaque and flaky.

5. Break cod into bite-sized pieces.

6. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet, about 30 seconds per side.

7. Assemble tacos with slaw, cod, sauce, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.

Notes

Cod should reach an internal temperature of 145°F for food safety.

Substitute tilapia, halibut, or mahi mahi if cod isn’t available.

Store leftover components separately in the fridge for up to 2 days.
