Description

A delicious fusion treat featuring creamy cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla, fried until crispy, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. Topped with caramel and chocolate sauce, xango dessert is a show-stopping sweet perfect for parties, special occasions, or whenever you crave a restaurant-style dessert at home

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas (soft taco size)

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

  • 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar (1/2 cup sugar + 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon)

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling

  • Chocolate sauce, for drizzling

  • Whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

  • Fresh berries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice (if using) until smooth and creamy.

  2. Fill and Roll: Lay out tortillas. Divide cheesecake filling evenly onto the lower third of each tortilla. Fold in the sides, then roll up tightly burrito-style. Seal the edge with a little water.

  3. Heat Oil: In a deep pan, heat 1–2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. Fry: Place rolled tortillas seam-side down into hot oil. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: While still warm, roll each fried roll in cinnamon sugar to coat completely.

  6. Serve: Slice each xango on the diagonal if desired. Drizzle with caramel and chocolate sauce, add whipped cream or ice cream, and garnish with berries.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, brush rolls with melted butter and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes.

  • Customize with flavored cream cheese, fruit jam swirls, or chocolate chips.

  • Use gluten-free tortillas and dairy-free cream cheese for special diets.

  • Best served fresh for crispiness.
