Description

These mini grilled cheese Hawaiian rolls are crispy on the outside, gooey in the center, and perfect for feeding a crowd. Made with soft Hawaiian rolls and melty cheese, they bake easily in the oven with a simple anti-soggy method that works every time. Ideal for parties, kids, or an easy comfort-food lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls (12 rolls, kept as one slab)

  • 6 slices melt-friendly cheese (American, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack)

  • 6 slices flavor cheese (cheddar, Colby Jack, or provolone)

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Optional add-ins:

  • Thin-sliced ham or cooked bacon (used sparingly)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet.

  2. Using a serrated knife, slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally as one slab. Place the bottom half on the baking sheet.

  3. Layer cheese directly on the bottom rolls, starting with the melt-friendly cheese, then the flavor cheese.

  4. Place the top half of the rolls back on.

  5. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley if using.

  6. Cover loosely with foil and bake until the cheese is fully melted.

  7. Remove foil and continue baking until the tops are golden.

  8. Let rest for a few minutes, then slice into individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

  • Keep the rolls connected while baking for even cooking.

  • Avoid placing butter on the bottom of the rolls to prevent sogginess.

  • Use thin, dry add-ins only if adding meat.

  • Let the sliders rest briefly before slicing to keep the cheese from sliding out.
