Description

These Asian Wonton Meatball Bites are juicy, flavorful meatballs wrapped in crispy wonton wrappers — the perfect bite-sized appetizer! They’re easy to make, packed with garlicky-gingery flavor, and bake or air fry beautifully. Ideal for parties, game days, or a fun weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground pork (or chicken/turkey)

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped scallions

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs or panko

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

For Wrapping:

  • 2024 wonton wrappers

  • Neutral oil (for brushing or spraying)

Optional Dipping Sauces:

  • Sweet chili sauce

  • Soy–ginger dip

  • Gochujang mayo

Instructions

  1. Mix the filling:
In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, egg, breadcrumbs, and cornstarch. Add the ground pork and stir gently until just combined.

  2. Shape the meatballs:
Roll into 1–1½ tablespoon portions. Set aside.

  3. Wrap with wonton wrappers:
Place a meatball in the center of each wrapper. Fold using the open-cup method (or any simple fold you like). Lightly brush the tops with oil.

  4. Bake (Oven Method):
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the wrapped meatballs on a lined sheet pan. Bake for 13–16 minutes, until crispy and golden.

    Air Fryer Method:
Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Arrange bites with space between them. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway.

  5. Serve:
Enjoy warm with dipping sauces of your choice.

Notes

  • For extra juiciness, mix part pork + part shrimp.

  • Don’t overmix the meat — it keeps the meatballs tender.

  • Gluten-free version: use tamari + gluten-free wrappers or rice paper.

  • Keep wrappers from drying out by covering them with a damp towel.

  • Add chili oil or gochujang for a spicy variation.
