Ingredients

3–4 lb pork shoulder (boneless or bone-in)

1 bottle (16 oz) barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)

1 can (12 oz) root beer or Dr. Pepper
Instructions

Place the pork shoulder in the bottom of the slow cooker.

Pour the entire can of root beer (or Dr. Pepper) over the meat.

Add the barbecue sauce on top.

Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–5 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreddable.

Remove pork, shred with two forks, and return to the slow cooker to mix with juices.

Serve on buns, over rice, or in tacos.
Notes

You can substitute cola or Dr. Pepper for root beer depending on your flavor preference.

For a spicy version, use a chipotle BBQ sauce or add a pinch of chili flakes.
